My Personality
Coco is desperately seeking her forever home!
Coco has such a great personality, she is playful and affectionate when she has a good relationship with you and loves to learn new skills. Coco was originally brought into us from a busy multi-pet household, which has meant that she missed out on a few early learning skills.
Coco loves to be out exploring on her walks and would make a fantastic adventure buddy! Coco would enjoy having doggy friends out and about, but at the moment we feel she would be better suited to an only pet, as she can be snatchy around toys and food. Coco will make a wonderful companion for a collie lover!
Coco loves learning new skills, and is having on-going training here at the shelter to work on re-call, loose lead walking and handling. Coco is very food motivated, meaning that after a good run around, she is a dream to work with and engages very well with her handlers.
Coco can take time to trust new people, so new owners will need to give her time and space initially to help her settle. Coco can meet new people well when given time and is generally a happy, friendly girl who has lots of friends here at the shelter.
Coco is a massive fan of a toys and would play all day if she could.
Coco can be overstimulated by fast moving traffic, for collie enthusiasts, they will understand that this is a common collie trait. Coco does well at a distance and can focus on her handler for positive training. She would benefit from living away from a busy road, and being walked in the country side.
Coco has a fear of the vets and will need on-going positive socialisation with vet handling in order to help her be manageable when needing to visit the vets. It would be beneficial for adopters to find a vet willing to assist with this training. We have muzzle trained Coco but this again will need on-going training to keep up a positive socialisation.
Within time Coco will be a loving and loyal companion but requires an experienced collie owner to help her through her nervous behaviours.
We reserve the right to remove a reserve at any stage of the adoption process if we believe it is in the best interest of the dog.
Cannot be rehomed to Southampton or Gosport.
Adoption fee: Minimum donation of £180.
