Rehoming – Profile
History:
Dasher and Dancer were signed over to us as their owner could no longer care for them. They have been in our care since February 2020.
Behaviour observations on site:
These two sweet boys have had a hard start to life, spending most of it in kennels. They have been in a lovely foster home for the past year as they were not coping in kennels. It has allowed us to see them flourish in the home and how they adapted and settled in this environment.
Dasher and Dancer have come on leaps and bounds with confidence within their foster home and after building up trust, are very affectionate boys. Dasher can take a little longer than Dancer but with time and patience, they will happily be full body handled. Dasher had a few injured dew claws in the past which has made his feet sensitive to over handling, it is advised he wears a muzzle at the vets for health checks.
The boys love their walks in quieter areas with lots of sniffing opportunities. Dancer walks well on lead and is friendly towards oncoming dogs, Dasher can be vocal and wary of dogs in his space. With a slow introduction he could walk with other dogs and make friends but this will need to be gradual with continued training.
In the warmth of the home, both dogs are well behaved and love to play. When they initially went into the foster home, they needed to learn some basic household manners but they have come such a long way and are now able to settle when left. They are both now toilet trained however may need some reminding to use the garden as they settle into their new home. The boys will make brilliant additions to an understanding family and their personalities really come out in the home.
We reserve the right to remove a reserve at any stage of the adoption process if we believe it is in the best interest of the dog
Medical history:
Both Dasher and Dancer are neutered, with vaccinations, flea and worming up to date.
Dasher has suffered with brittle nails in the past, in the home with different walking terrain they have strengthened, he may need to go onto supplements in the future to strengthen them as he gets older.
