My Personality

Frank is a wonderful, loyal boy who was signed into our care as unfortunately he was not getting along with the other resident dog in the property. Due to his behaviour around strangers, he is one of our ‘complex’ dogs.

Frank is very typical of his breed, and his new adopters should have a good understanding of their quirks. Frank has already had a couple of surgeries on his face and eyes, so new adopters should understand that there is a possibility of on-going medical costs that are typically associated with his breed.

Frank can be unsure meeting new people and can take a couple of meets before he feels comfortable around you. It’s important to note that Frank may act aggressively if unknown people were to approach him.

Once Frank knows you, he is a superstar, he is very affectionate and loves his long walks and although he can be strong on the lead at times, is getting the grips of loose lead walking, slowly! Frank loves learning and being food motivated makes him easy to train.

Frank will need to wear a muzzle at the vets as he is unsure of being handled and we also advise that he wears this when out and about in public too.

Frank has previously bitten around food, so this is something else that adopters need to consider and be ready to set up their home in order to help Frank settle around eating and feel completely comfortable.

Frank can get along with other dogs outside and enjoys walking alongside them. However due to his past behaviour we feel he would be best suited to an only dog at present.

Frank is such a character, and we feel he would make an excellent companion to a real Shar Pei enthusiast!

Our behaviour team will give initial support to help Frank settle into his forever home.

We reserve the right to remove a reserve at any stage of the adoption process if we believe it is in the best interest of the dog.

Cannot be rehomed to Portsmouth.

Adoption fee: Minimum donation of £180.
