Rehoming – Profile
History:
Unfortunately, we have no previous history for Maurice, Marty and Melman.
Behaviour observations on site:
Maurice, Marty and Melman are three very handsome boys looking for their forever home together.
Maurice is the confident piggy of the group. He will always be the first to approach and check out what’s going on, while the other two are more nervous and will hang back initially. But once Maurice has given it the OK and they feel brave enough, Marty and Melman will eventually follow his lead. We find veg-time makes them feel bolder too!
As Maurice is an Abyssinian breed, he will need grooming weekly. All three boys are not overly keen on being handled, so they will need a little patience in this area and time to build up trust.
Melman can unfortunately be a bit over confident, and sometimes takes this out on Marty in particular. For this reason, they will need a large cage indoors or outdoors (minimum of 5ft x 5ft or equivalent) so that they can have their own space if they choose, and this will help prevent any misunderstandings in the future. And, as you can see from the photos above, these boys love being out on the grass and in the sunshine, so we would recommend a run for the garden with a lid.
Please note: Maurice, Melman and Marty will not be able to be rehomed with an existing male guinea pig. They can be rehomed with existing females, but there will need to be at least 2 females per male.
If you are interested, please fill in the application form on this page and send photos of your accommodation for Maurice, Marty and Melman to enquires@rspcasolent.org.uk to speed up the process.
We reserve the right to remove a reserve at any stage of the adoption process if we believe it is in the best interest of the Guinea pigs.
Medical history:
Maurice, Melman and Marty have all been castrated. Maurice has been treated for lice since being in our care and is now clear. All three boys occasionally have discharge from their anal sacs. This just needs to be monitored and cleaned when necessary.
Adopters should consider that previous medical conditions will now not be covered by insurance. Adopters are responsible for the on-going medical costs once the animal has been adopted.
