Rehoming – Profile
Merlin was signed over in March due to his previous owner not being able to care for him.
Behaviour observations on site:
Merlin is a happy, bouncy spaniel who is now ready to find his forever home! Merlin can be nervous towards new people, and it took staff several days to bond with him. Since then however he has come on leaps and bounds and makes friends fairly quickly. He is generally a little nervous of his surroundings, especially places like the vets and groomers where he needs to be handled. He tolerates this well but would benefit from having patient owners who can take him regularly to get used to both these environments.
As a spaniel has a long coat that gets matted easily, he will need regular grooming. He enjoys being brushed by a familiar person and doesn’t mind a bath but other grooming equipment like scissors and clippers he isn’t too keen on and gets scared. We have been doing training at the shelter to make him feel more comfortable but this will need to be continued in the home.
Merlin is good to be harnessed he gets very excited to go out. When out and about he can get scared if fast cars or cyclists come past but loves other dogs and always wants to say hello and have a play. Merlin is an active, young boy who will require regular, long walks.
Merlin could live with another dog, pending successful meetings here at the shelter.
Cannot be rehomed to Crawley
