Rehoming – Profile

History:

Missy came into our care as her owner could no longer offer her the care she needed.

Behaviour observations on site:

Missy found the cattery environment really scary when she came into us. Initially she was really shut down and would just hide at the back of her carrier and wanted nothing to do with the staff. As time went on she started using aggression to drive staff away so the decision was made to get Missy into a foster home.

Missy was lucky enough to be fostered by one of our amazing volunteers who set her up in an unused room so Missy could feel safe and secure.

Even though Missy has lead quite a sheltered life she is a very curious girl. Once in her foster home Missy relaxed quickly and settled well in her new surroundings. Missy’s foster mum had a complete hands off approach to start with so Missy felt safe, listened to and that she was in control so nothing bad would happen. Over time Missy has become much more relaxed and is happy to initiate contact. She is showing what a sweet affectionate little girl she can be. Missy is also incredibly playful. She has several favourite toys including her purple worm, chasing some string and catnip.

Missy needs to be an only pet in an adult only home. She will need her own, unused room to initially settle in before exploring the rest of the property and a fully enclosed garden.

We reserve the right to remove a reserve at any stage of the adoption process if we believe it is in the best interest of the cat.

Medical history:

Missy has no known medical conditions. She is currently on anxiety medication which has been weaned down to a low dose. This will be continued in her new home to make the transition easier for Missy. Our behaviour team will be able to give advice on when and how to reduce and stop Missy’s medication and will be able to give behaviour advice to help Missy settle.

Adopters should consider that previous medical conditions will now not be covered by insurance. Adopters are responsible for the on-going medical costs once the animal has been adopted.

Additional information:

Missy cannot be homed in Southampton and her adoption fee is a minimum donation of £80.

The successful adopter will get to meet Missy in her foster home which is at Lee-On-The-Solent.
