(We only keep application forms on file for 6 months due to GDPR requirements).

Rehoming – Profile
History:
Rafiki came into the shelter as he wasn’t comfortable living with the child in the home.
Behaviour observations on site:
Poor Rafiki has taken time to settle in the cattery environment and finds it a little bit scary. To start with he preferred the safety of his carrier and only ventured out when it was quiet. Over the last few days he’s really started to thrive and will come out and see a couple of the volunteers and is now happy to receive a few strokes. We are doing everything on Rafikis terms and at a pace he feels comfortable with. Rafiki is a massive foody so this definitely helps!
Rafiki is starting to show he has a playful side and we feel once he’s settled in a new home he will really start to show his character and show what a loving and playful boy he can be.
Rafiki will need a room of his own that no one else uses to initially help him settle before exploring the rest of the property and eventually a fully enclosed garden. Rafiki will need time and space to settle and do things at his own pace. He still gets easily spooked by sudden movements and loud noises so will need a calm and quiet home.
Rafiki needs to be an only pet, he has shown he’s not happy seeing other cats on site and needs an adult only home due to his previous experience with children.
We reserve the right to remove a reserve at any stage of the adoption process if we believe it is in the best interest of the cat.
Medical history:
Rafiki did have some hair loss due to being stressed in his previous home, it is growing back well and he has received no treatment for this. He has no known medical conditions.
Adopters should consider that previous medical conditions will now not be covered by insurance. Adopters are responsible for the on-going medical costs once the animal has been adopted.
Additional information:
Rafiki cannot be home in Southampton (SO14) and his adoption fee is a minimum donation of £80.
