Rehoming – Profile
Rodney came into our care via an inspector due to the previous owner unable to cope. Unfortunately we have limited history on how he behaved in the home. Rodney was originally adopted from the Ark 4 years ago.
Behaviour observations on site:
Poor Rodney finds himself back at the shelter through no fault of his own, and is now seeking his forever family.
Rodney is quite the character! Rodney is a super affectionate boy who loves a lap to lay on. His quirky side means that he frequently needs to hold a toy in his mouth in order to soothe his anxieties.
Rodney is generally friendly towards new people, but can take his time with meeting men especially. When Rodney is comfortable with you, he is very affectionate and loves a cuddle! He is tolerant of handling and is learning how to walk nicely on a harness (but does still pull at times).
Rodney tends to ignore other dogs when out walking and would rather keep to himself. He adores being out and about and exploring in the forest so will make a great adventure buddy.
Rodney is one of our more complex dogs due to him needing some more support in handling his emotions. At times Rodney attention barks however with a structured routine here at the shelter, he has calmed.
Rodney would thrive in a quiet household with someone that has experience with his breed. He would benefit from having a secure garden to potter around in as well.
As Rodney is one of our ‘complex dogs’ we would offer an initial 2-week foster trial. This allows adopters to get an idea of how Rodney will behave in the home.
We reserve the right to remove a reserve at any stage of the adoption process if we believe it is in the best interest of the dog.
Medical history:
Rodney has had x-rays whilst being with us here and this has shown that he has mild hip dysplasia. This is currently being treated with just joint supplements.
Rodney is also on medication to help with a skin allergy. This is potentially a long-term medication, but again once he has settled into a new environment there is a chance that you could trial him off this.
Adopters should consider that previous medical conditions will now not be covered by insurance. Adopters are responsible for the on-going medical costs once the animal has been adopted.
Cannot be rehomed to Gosport.
Adoption fee: Minimum donation of £180
