Rehoming – Profile
History:
Tia previously lived in a home with multiple dogs, where she found it hard to relax. She is now looking for her forever home.
Behaviour observations on site:
Tia is an affectionate dog with her trusted handlers and loves a cuddle and a fuss. Initially, she can be wary of strangers but with a steady introduction warms to people and becomes more confident. Tia has had a gradual exposure to equipment and walking on lead as she was initially very vigilant and unsettled when outside. She now loves walking and walks very well on the lead with excellent handler focus.
Tia loves her food and has responded very well to training here onsite. She can become nervous sometimes in new environments so will benefit from continued training and trust building with her new handlers as she will look to them for reassurance. Her confidence has grown significantly onsite but her introduction to new things within the home will need to be extremely gradual. She has worked hard to refocus with other dogs passing and seeing squirrels but will sometimes bark at these.
Once trust is established, Tia will happily be handled all over and will seek affection, she has also had some positive interactions at the vets onsite. Tia is looking for an understanding family who will be prepared to take things at her own pace. Tia is not fully house trained and some accidents within the settling in phase should be expected. She will go to the toilet outside but will take time to find a routine and will need to be encouraged to use the garden.
Tia will be a great addition to a family, she cannot be rehomed 3 miles of PO2 or SO45 and will require a good-sized garden with high fencing. We believe she will be happy to live with children 12+ who have lived with dogs before to know to give her space.
We reserve the right to remove a reserve at any stage of the adoption process if we believe it is in the best interest of the dog
Medical history:
She is spayed, microchipped and fully vaccinated.
Tia is currently on medication to help her with her stress, she should be able to be weened off this once in a home. Her new owners will have weekly catch ups with our behaviour team.
Due to not enjoying the kennel environment Tia does get an upset stomach now and again, she is currently on a fibre supplement added to her food.
4 weeks free pet insurance included with adoption.
Adopters should consider that previous medical conditions will now not be covered by insurance. Adopters are responsible for the on-going medical costs once the animal has been adopted.
